James Turney faces a misdemeanor harassment charge in Iowa stemming from death threats he allegedly made to his former mother-in-law the day before Paul Childs was shot.

A panel of police officers and citizens will review 36 of the 92 fatal and nonfatal police-involved shootings from 1990 through Wednesday. They will be looking for any trends that might require a change in the department's use-of-force policy.

Turney remains on paid leave while an internal affairs investigation looks at whether he violated department policies when he shot Childs.

Black leaders have called for a boycott of jobs and city services Monday. They'll hold a protest march that day. too.

The Childs family say they will file a federal lawsuit against Turney.
